What dreams are made of – The Barger Wedding – December 31st

When I first met Stephanie at the bridal fair, I remember seeing her laughing, smiling, and having the best time with the good friends and family that surrounded her. She had such a fun spirit about her. Luckily she chose me as her photographer and I then got to experience first hand that her fun and loving attitude can be attributed to the love she has received from those in all areas of her life. It’s people like this that a great life is built from. This New Year’s Eve wedding certainly finished off my year perfectly.

Our morning started at the brides parents house where many warm friends gathered near to not only prepare Stephanie for her wedding day but to cherish being a part of that moment in her life. Then it was off to the church where Jason, the groom, was all smiles himself. During their first look I remember thinking how happy they each looked. Honestly they couldn’t stop smiling. The beautiful St. Mary’s in Huntsville, AL was where their ceremony was held and it offered a perfect setting for this couple. I myself enjoyed the history of St. Mary’s including the original spiral staircase. Once the ceremony was over they enjoyed a fun reception at the VBC. I love to see a good celebration after a wedding. It really shows what love those you invited have. Stephanie and Jason, your marriage truly is a cause for celebration. I’m so happy for you both.

Bride Day: Friday. Thinking outside the aisle.

It’s all in the details. This we know. ladies! This may be why countless minutes, hours, and days are spent on searching out the best detail ideas that fit your wedding needs. I’m always delighted to photograph the little things that my couples and their familes bring to the wedding and receptions but I’m blown away when someone thinks outside the box   outside the aisle! Today I’d like to show a few things I’m lovin’.

I’ve seen birdcages, trees, mailboxes, books, frames, and pictures sitting out at receptions and welcoming tables waiting to be signed and a simple word of advice and well wishes to be written but I haven’t seen this. It’s a time capsule to be opened at a later anniversary. AWESOME idea!!! Paired with this cute chalk board it’s PERFECTION!

I’ve photographed a beautiful wedding that did include a lavendar tossing and I truly adore this idea but wrapping it old book pages…so clever!

I’ve talked before about the vintage broach bouquet and how it’s a fav of mine then the other day I spotted the button boutoniere. It’s fresh and presh. Just saying.

Lastly, I’m thinking that adding a little whimsy to the cake can’t hurt! The grooms cake seem to get all the attention these days while the brides cake stays traditional. This is what I’d have, a cake with true whimsy! <3

Happy Bride Day: Friday. Until next time!

Amy

A Gentleman and a Lady: The Holder wedding

Another beautiful day at Madalyn’s In The Grove. Many of you know of my love and some what obsession for this venue. Anything vintage makes my heart swoon. The day Drew and Cassie married we were blessed with an overcast cool and breezy day which for July in Alabama is close to miraculous!

I had only recently met the bride, Cassie, since her parents had booked me for the wedding prior. When she stopped by the studio to chat I had a great time learning all about her. Her love for soccer which we incorporated in the pictures

and all about her kitten that was snoozing in her rain boot that morning. I loved her laid back style. She proved to be a perfect bride. I met her at Class Act salon to photograph her getting her hair done. The shop was adorable with those blue walls and black and white checkered floor.

I was blown away by all the work Cassie’s Mother had done to decorate Madalyn’s. It was stunning. I loved all the Magnolias. It was the perfect southern touch. I had to get a dress shot showing a little of that off.

I finally got to meet Drew. I was told he was in the Navy and would be in uniform for the ceremony. <Thrilled>There is something about a uniform that is quite stunning. He made the perfect accessory for his beautiful bride.

While getting ready for the first look, where we take pictures of the bride and groom seeing eachother for the first time, Cassie was showing me her something old. So, yes, of course vintage lover me loves the something old but this something old is so stinking cute. I think she said it was her grandmothers. Isn’t it adorable?

In my head I keep singing, “Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly.” Certainly Drew and Cassie’s dream they dared to dream has really came true.

A little look into my time with Drew and Cassie. They are in love and there is no denying it. The way they talked, smiled, and hold hands. They are truly best friends enjoying the start of something amazing; their life as husband and wife.

When it was time for the ceremony on the front lawn at Madalyn’s, Cassie’s Father walked her down the aisle as the sun began to set. The warm glow from the sun almost matched the warm glow beaming from this father and daughter as they gave each other one last look before beginning.

Not only did he walk her down the aisle he also married the couple. A beautiful ceremony.

After the ceremony guests enjoyed cake and lots of yummy desserts dipped in chocolate. I’m not sure what was more impressive, the tower of GIGI’s or the Auburn cake with the Toomers tribute. Both Gorgeous!

And why have a sword if you can’t use it?!

As the evening was coming to a close I noticed the little candlelit jars twinkled like fireflies through the trees.

I congratulate Drew and Cassie! I hope the photos of their sunset wedding will be a reminder of the warmth and love from all their family and friends that celebrate their union. This photo just screams happily ever after.

Best Wishes,

Amy
